Two exciting events in one week: We enjoyed a couple hours together in Chemnitz at the market and shopping centers, and then went back to the school to see the final results of the regional English competition for 9th-graders who've had at least 7 years of English in school (some schools start in Kindergarten). He was tested on listening, speaking (unprepared speech on a subject he didn't choose), reading (comprehension) and writing. His school was very proud of him getting the first place! It put his teacher in a good light.
The next day was a piano recital, where he finished off the concert with two pieces he had memorized.
